Forte's John Sanguinetti Named Top EDA Innovator by EDA Digest
Dr. John W. Sanguinetti, chief technology officer of Forte Design Systems™ (www.ForteDS.com), was named a top Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Innovator by the newly launched publication EDA Digest.
According to Mike Demler, EDA Digest editorial director: "Dr. Sanguinetti's contribution to VCS, followed by his work at the forefront of high-level synthesis, is very impressive."
Dr. John Sanguinetti is an entrepreneur and technologist who co-founded CynApps in 1998, now Forte Design Systems, the company that pioneered high-level synthesis and has driven its widespread use.
Prior to Forte, he founded Chronologic Simulation in 1991 where he developed the first Verilog Compiled Simulator (VCS), a compiled code simulator in use today and considered to be one of the most successful EDA products. Chronologic accelerated simulation technology and commercialized compiled code logic simulators.
As a major contributor to the resurgence in the use of the Verilog hardware design language (HDL) in the design community, he served on the Open Verilog International (OVI) Board of Directors from 1992 to 1995. Dr. Sanguinetti was a member of the IEEE working group that drafted the specification for the IEEE 1364 Verilog standard.
Dr. Sanguinetti is a 2011 ACM Fellow for contributions to hardware simulation, and holds a Ph.D. in Computer and Communication Sciences from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
The inaugural issue of EDA Digest (www.edadigest.com) will be distributed at ARM TechCon October 30-November 1 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, Calif.
